The house was built during the late-18th century (est. 1779), and used as the first location where the County was formed. It features a two-story projecting front porch, a large great room with hand hewn beams and oversized fireplace. Later additions were made in the late-19th and early-20th century. There is an adjacent summer kitchen and the site of a farm office location marked by a stone chimney that was used by the Iron Master for the nearby Washington Iron Furnace
